Who We Are

Volunteers are critical to Habitat's success!

At Habitat Pittsburgh, our mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope in Allegheny County. Because of volunteers like you, we are able to achieve this mission as we transform our community.

What We Do

Our homes are built by our full-time construction crew, hired subcontractors, the future homebuyers, and volunteers like you! Our construction site supervisors are skilled at teaching and guiding volunteers of any skill level through your work day. Whether you are an experienced contractor, or have never stepped foot on a construction site in your life, we need you!

Our construction site is typically open Wednesday - Saturday each week. Listed below are the specifics of a typical build day. These are open to change based on weather, the opportunity, delay in schedule, etc.

  • Shift: 9:00AM - 3:30PM
  • Minimum Age: All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer on a construction site. Any volunteers under the age of 18 need to have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian.
  • Clothing: Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. Dress appropriately for the weather and keep in mind that neither indoor nor outdoor work sites have heat or air conditioning.
  • Lunch is not provided, please bring a packed lunch. Bottled water and snacks are provided.
  • Court Related Community Service: Volunteers MUST complete our online Community Service Policy Form and await approval from the Volunteer Engagement Specialist before collecting hours. (This process can take up to 48 hours.) Hours WILL NOT be verified if this form is not completed and you have not received appropriate documentation from the Volunteer Manager.
