Swissvale ReStore

Who We Are

Habitat Pittsburgh's ReStore sells new and used appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, etc), furnitures (couches, chairs, dining sets, wardrobes, etc.), building materials, home decor, and more at prices 30-50% below retail value. All proceeds from the ReStore go directly towards Habitat Pittsburgh's mission of building homes, hope, and community in Allegheny County. Visit Habitat Pittsburgh's website to learn more about our ReStore services!

What We Do

The ReStore volunteers will assist the ReStore Staff with receiving, pricing, and processing donations. The volunteers will also need to manage one or more sections of the store, keeping the donations they process moving throughout our stockroom. Once the donations have been processed, volunteers will hit the floor with enthusiasm and serve as a resource for keeping the store sections stocked, tidy, and providing assistance with customers throughout their shift. Volunteers are expected to be greeting towards every customer that enters the ReStore.

Our ReStore is open Tuesday - Friday, 11:00AM - 5:00PM and on Saturday, 10:00AM - 4:00PM. Listed below are the specifics of a typical day volunteering at the ReStore. These are open to change based on the opportunity:

  • Shift: Beginning and end time varies, but we ask all volunteers to be able to stay for at least 3 hours on the days they volunteer.
  • Minimum Age: All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer at the ReStore. Any volunteers under the age of 18 need to have a waiver signed by their parent/legal guardian.
  • Clothing: Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. Long pants and a ReStore volunteer t-shirt are required.
  • Lunch is not provided, please bring a packed lunch. If your volunteer shift is during lunch hours, you will get a 30 minute break to eat your lunch in the break room.
  • Court Related Community Service: Volunteers MUST complete our online Community Service Policy Form and await approval from the Volunteer Engagement Specialist before collecting hours. (This process can take up to 48 hours.) Hours WILL NOT be verified if this form is not completed and you have not received appropriate documentation from the Volunteer Manager.
